Edição Nº 2
Edição Nº 1
Created to be a spokesman for the Fundação Casa de Jorge Amado, the magazine Exu, since its first numbers, achieved a surprising success, reaching a circulation of 5,000 copies. Because it was a vehicle primarily directed to a demanding and supercritical audience, the Exu sought to develop a high quality standard for its editorial and graphic design, having received a prominent place in reviews and critics not only in Brazil but in many places where it was published. Revista Exu had 36 editions, having been published for the last time in September 1997. During this period, although it maintained a number of subscribers and although it was sold at libraries, its distribution was primarily made through direct mail to writers, journalists, cultural institutions, educational centers. This happened because its editors agreed that it was important to make the magazine reach the larger possible number of readers, which would raise the interest of advertisers and, so, make its publishing financially independent and viable.
